Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy

Occupational therapy focuses on restoring function and increasing independence with activities of daily living. As a result of your MS, simple tasks such as getting changed, using the shower or making a meal can be a real challenge. Our occupational therapists are certified MS specialists. This means the treatments developed by our team are highly effective and based specifically on your presentation, goals and current impairments.

Our occupational therapists will provide you with:

  • Fall prevention training: most falls occur in the kitchen, bathroom or bedroom.  Our occupational therapists will work closely with you to decrease and stop your fall frequency.
  • Training in activities of daily living: this will improve your ability and endurance to perform activities such as getting changed, cleaning, cooking and personal hygiene.
  • Rehabilitative and compensatory intervention to improve overall quality of life and workload capacity.
  • Education about your condition.
  • Exercises to improve your range of motion, balance, flexibility, and muscle strength.

Our therapists will develop a treatment plan customized to your individual needs. Together, you will work on strength, balance, coordination, and functional activities to help you regain your independence and improve your quality of life.
